| History |
Blake Stevenson Ltd was started in 1992 by directors Norma Hurley and Glenys Watt.
The name is taken from combining the surnames of Dr Sophia Jex Blake, the first woman doctor in Edinburgh, who founded a medical school for women in 1886 at a time when women were refused entry to university medical schools, and Flora Stevenson, a social reformer born in Glasgow, who was a champion of education for children living in poverty, and a pioneer of the right to education for girls.
Since 1992 we have grown to a staff of 14 with a pool of around 15 freelance associates.
We focus on the public and third sectors in Scotland as our main market, but continue to work across the UK and elsewhere in Europe.
